Japanese Wolf

August 16, 2008 - September 6, 2008

In the fanciful life of Yumiko Kayukawa, she is able to hang out with animals like best friends. A colorful picture of a pouty lipped, glossy eyed girl hugging a manatee the way a child hugs their grandpa, first grabbed my attention. The connection between animal and girl is captivating. The playfully erotic poses of her subjects, seem to draw you into a world that combines Tokyo fashion, reoccurring themes of 1970’s multi colored flowers and vivid patterns gentle dispersed through the dreamy illustrations.
